Being globably minded

 

Economy - economy is a system of marketing and trading valued goods. Economy  can also be used to help people in need. Economy is why us ( people with jobs ) have to pay taxes. 

Trade - My understanding of trading is making decisions based on what the other person brings to the table. Making a trade will not only benefit you but the other person as well because if they trade something of the same value it will then benefit you and the other person. 

Globalisation - From what i have learnt in social studies globalisation is a product that is known and has been shared around the world. For example pencils , pencils are made from different materials that come from different places in the world. Pencils are also in every single country in the world which is why it is a global product.

What we have been learning is what economy , Trade and globalisation are. They are all related to one topic called globalisation. One of the brands that I did was NZAS. NZAS is also known as the new zealand aluminum smelters make the nz export aluminium. This product was made in 1971 and is located in tiwai in the south island. This company makes aluminum and aluminum is great for storing food and keeping the hot air in if the food is freshly cooked like chicken for example but allumion is 100 percent not edible.

9T English

 English with whaea Annette has been a roller coaster. we have had a lot of ups and downs this year but I want to focus on what whaea Annette has taught us through out the year. Something that whaea Annette has taught is confidence. Confidence is something a lot of people struggle with. The way whaea Annette has taught us to be confident is how she made us write a speech and speak it in front of the class. That was kind of a ice breaker for the class as well because it made the class less scared to speak in front of each other. 

Creative writing was another topic that we have just finished recently. Creative was very helpful in terms of learning what adjectives , nouns , similes , metaphors , personifications and more things like those. not only did we learn what they were we also go to write some examples about some animals in the jungle using those types of words. For example we would use an adjective to describe a noun in our sentences or we would use nouns in  the sentence an example of a noun is a thing so like a table , chair , person and just things in general , an example of a adjective is like the big chair , a blue pen or just something that describes the noun.

Film study was a pretty fun and easy assignment all we had to do was watch a movie and write about it. I personally like it because the movie was actually really funny and I like writing when you can describe things. Film study was also a test as well because we got a mark on it. somethin that was cool about it was that we got to write down our ideas first and then write from there.

Novel was something that we did for a while. Novel study was when we read this pretty cool book called see ya Simon. after each chapter we would answer these questions or we would do a fun activity like create a board game or we would create our own ideas for a wheel chair. There was quite a few chapters so it did take quite a while although there was a lot to do the book was pretty good and interesting but it did have a sad ending  

 

The first thing that we ever did in English were these slides call all about me. This topic was literally what the name says. what we did for this topic was we answered a lot of questions like what are we looking for , or we would put family photos or we would write something that we would be looking forward to for this year.

Creative writting jungle story

 

Mowgli, a born jungle man, and Blue, the self-less bear, take a journey to find the human a safe place to go after being in danger from a tiger caught in the past. The vines and trees in the background show that they are still at the holts of the jungle. The facal expressions show the determination and worry at what ever they are soon to face or have already come in the presence of. The trust Mowgli and Blue have for each other must be through the roofs if they show each other if they go through the journey together.

Mowgli is the little boy, born a man raised a wolf. The vines that are rapped around the long old looking branches look like a snake rapping around its prey. The bright green leaves that are all bunched up look like they are coming of age and are getting ready to fall of so new ones can grow. The worried expression on Mowgli and Blues face looks like they have seen something they did not want to see.

Holiday recap

 In these holidays there wasnt alot i did because my mum still had to work so I couldn't really go anywhere or do anything but there were a few things I would like to tell you about. My holidays started off with me staying at my aunt's house because every second week my little cousin who is 10 came over and stayed with her dad and my aunty. Everytime she is over she likes to hang out with me because we are kind of close in age. I personally like to hang out with her because she always has heaps of energy and most times says the most random things which most of the time is so funny. So for the first 2 days of the holidays I stayed at my aunt's house with my cousins there as well, which I like because at my house I'm the only kid so it's easy to have people to see. Although I must have eaten something or caught the flu because the next day I went home and got so sick I started to throw up a lot and couldn eat anything because everytime i did I would always just throw it up so that sucked. I also couldn't sleep because I just felt very yucky and I was scared that I was going to throw up in my bed.

Finally the next day had come but I was not any better. I was lightheaded and I did not eat the whole day. The only thing I did was sleep and sleep and sleep. Once the days of me being very sick had passed we had to prepare for tiares birthdays party so we had to go to the rsa to decorate and get my sister ready who is 11 months old but still looks like she's 6 months. The night of tiare's party was very scary and exciting because once all the kids had left all the adults started to party as they do but around 1am this crazy lady showed up to the party and started to swear at everyone and honestly just ruin the night for everyone. Tiare had gone to welcome a guest that had showed up uninvited and the lady must have gotten triggered because she then hooked tiare in the jaw with a punch and then everyone was very worried so my older sister jada got really angry and actually started to try and fight the lady because she just ruined his night so it too three people to hold jada back before the lady had finally left and jada calmed down. Everyone went back to have a party when ofcourse something bad had to happen and it was crazy. a man had shown it to the rsa with a gun and shot at us at times which was absolutely crazy and everyone didn't really know what bahoen cause they were all very drunk. But after all the crazies had been arrested my nan and aunty had to be interviewed at the police station so the cops knew what had happened. Luckily no one got shot by the gun but unfortunately tiara dad got punched by the lady. They did end up arresting the lady as soon anstey got there and about an hour later the man ended up being found by the cops after running away as soon as he shot the gun. They found him at the copthorne but he didn't have a gun with him.

Now we start on Monday, the second week of the holidays. On the second week of the holidays my dad had picked me up to go to his house for the week and there wasnt much that i did there but there were a few things that i did with my dad's side of the family. For example every single day I went to visit my pop and check up on him. I always like to see him because he likes to think he's very funny but he is not . Something I like about going to see my grandparents is that they always spoil me with things. Like my nan would always spoil me with food and presents or just whatever i wanted. So for the week we had visited him. Unfortunately I did not get to see my horse because the people whose horses are in the same paddock had to take the horses to another paddock to do some work on the other one. The one my horse was originally on a ton load of gorse growing which was very in convenient because you did not get to use the whole paddock that was there. So my horse was away with his horsey friends, probably living the life and getting very spoiled by my dad's cousin because she really loves him.

The next few days there was not a lot to do because of the rain. So we went to my aunt's house who basically raised me throughout my whole life of being a baby. We like to joke around and say that she kidnapped me even though she didn't. She would always just come to my mums house and take me to hers for a while to give my mum a break. So I really love spending time with her because she is really a mum to me and I grew up with her looking after me. I was so sad when she moved to aussie and i couldn't see her alot anymore so i was over the moon when i found out that she was moving back to new zealand to live for a long time. Another part of my holiday that i really enjoyed was making more friendships with people that i haven't talked to before so i really liked that bit cause i made some really cool friendships with a few people. The worst part about my holidays was the second week because i had to look after my little brother who is the worst because he always tries to be right and sometimes it just gets really annoying because he is around 8 now so its gets really annoying and whenever i try and be alone he just barges into my room and starts to mess things up in the room so that gets very annoying but apart from that my holiday was pretty great.

Migration end of unti blog

This term in social studies we have learnt about migration . There are in a way hr most of these words are to do with migration for example o manys things I have learnt and I would like to share my understanding of migration with you all. First of my understanding of migration is that many people have to leave their own homes and country due to political matters in the world . which to me is so unfair due to many reasons. Secondly we learnt about place this is one the i still don't really understand much i about but what i did understand is that there are so many places in the world that people go for many reasons such as holidays , political matters , going home or going to visit people that are sick also knowing that there is a place or everyone and we shouldn't judge people by what they look like cause we have no idea what they would be gone through. Thirdly we learn about change. To me change means changing your lifestyles for the better. For example if someone had an addiction or problem they would change their mindset and to stop doing what they know is going to affect them in the long run. Or if someone thought they couldn't do something because maybe someone else could do it better they would change their mindset to a growth mindset where they may not win by knowing they gave it a shot. All these topics relate to migration which was our overall topic. For example, migration is going from place to place because of a lot of matters and for change it changes the way you live and speak if you move countries . i can also relate to some of these topic because of school for example when i was about 8 my mum let me live with my dad in christchurch which to me was a really big change because this was the first time i would have lived with my dad because i was so use to the way me and my mum lived so living with my dad was different because their rules and the way they did things was very different from the way me and my mum did at our house like i have a little brother that lives with my dad and that was strange having someone live with me because it as always just me and my mum . Although I have  learnt so much about this topic there is still a lot I don't quite understand and I will need to go back and do some more research because I really loved the migration topic this term. We did a variety of things for research. For some examples we did a refugee simulator and also moving to another country and so many more fun little activities that taught us a lot. Lastly, my overall view on this topic is that it has taught me so much and made me more grateful for the things I have in my life and also that not all migrations are for bad reasons but some of them could be for the better and not the worse . hello this week in english i did a scratch project about smon getting a goel even though he is in a wheelchair so that means even though something bad happens to you don't stop doing the things you love. 

Kupe report

 Today we learnt about kupe and all his adventures and i am here to tell you about what i have learnt . to start off kupe was the first explorer to find aotearoa by accident which is pretty funny because he was on his way to kill his enemies wheke because it was eating to much kaimoana and killing all the fish and making it hard for people to leave and get kaimoana. He also killed the wheke in the name of war. Kupe actually named the hokianga harbour te puna o te ao marama. There is a story that people told about kohukohu , that kupe actually cursed the town and the people in it  because he was served cooled food so being impatient and greedy he started yelling at everyone and cursing them all just because the food was cold. When kupe first stepped on the land of aotearoa as he was exploring he found that his footsteps were turning into stone behind him. Many places that are in aotearoa kupe actually named even though some of them are changed now a days kupe and his wife hine te aparangi were the ones who actually gave aotearoa their name

Refugee simulator

 That is it - refugee simulator is about how we have 8 minutes to pack 2 suitcases with fifteen nessacary items that could be in your house if you had to pick up and leave immediatley beause of war or bombing oTer more things that could cause a riot and indanger people lives.  Along the way you can come across people who will try steal and trade with you just so you could keep your own life 

How did it make you feel -  It made me feel kind of secure in new zealand knowing those things dont really happen in new zealand but also the realisation that many people go through ths very often which is so sad just to think about and i coudn't imagie going through that.

What did you learn -  I learnt that people have to make life threatining decisions that will determine wether you live or die and that refugees go through so much ecause of dumb decisions people make

About Me

 Hi I'm Jarian , This is my blog and here’s a bit about me. 

I attend Bay Of Islands College after just leaving Kamo intermediate which feels like such a long time ago. My DNA is Maori raised and born around the world of the hard working Te Ao Maori culture. In my family there is a lot of us on both sides mum and dad. But close family I have 2 brother one older and one younger so I'm the middle obviously. My mum has 2 sibling so on my mums side I have one uncle and one aunty but however on my dads side he has three sisters so three more aunties.

I think that I'm good at somethings in different subjects so in math I’m good at algorithm and science I'm good at knowing what equipment and stuff like ingredient type stuff for experiments . I enjoy social studies cause the work is doing a class treaty on a poster so that's fun . My challenges is getting under 1:30 in speed gun so yea that's one of the challenges. My goals for this year are to get as many excellences as I possibly can for different subjects 

This year I am really looking forward to our camp that we are having in a couple of weeks also getting closer with my fellow classmates. A person who inspires me is my great grandfather Sir James because the great things he did for the Maori culture and people .
